New boiler installation in Bolton
Tell me what needs doing and I’ll come back with a price before I set off.
A new boiler, installed and certified by the engineer who quoted it.
Quoted in writing, flushed and filtered as standard, notified to Building Control and registered with the manufacturer — all by the same person.
From £1,799Accredited with Baxi, Worcester Bosch and Ideal
The questions people ask
What does it cost?
A straight swap starts at £1,799 fitted — an entry-level Ideal or Baxi combi, same position, same fuel, no system changes. Moving the boiler, changing the system type or stepping up to a Worcester Bosch costs more. You get a written figure before you commit, and it is the figure you pay.
What is included?
A system flush and a magnetic filter as standard, the controls set up and explained, the Building Regulations notification, your certificate, and the appliance registered with the manufacturer on your behalf.
How long is it guaranteed?
24 months on my workmanship, plus the manufacturer’s own guarantee on the appliance. The two run alongside each other from the same day — mine does not start when theirs ends.
Who does the work?
Chris. The person who surveyed it and quoted it is the person who fits it, commissions it and hands it over.
The quote is a fixed figure, not a starting point.
If something unexpected turns up behind a wall you are told before any extra work happens, and you decide.

The longer warranty
I am an accredited installer with Baxi, Worcester Bosch and Ideal. On qualifying appliances that lets me register a longer manufacturer guarantee than a non-accredited installer can. The exact length depends on the boiler and the scheme at the time, so I tell you the period that applies to yours in writing before you commit.
My guarantee
24 months on my workmanship, running from the day the installation is completed. It covers how I did the job — the pipework, the flue, the commissioning, the way it was put together. It does not cover the appliance itself; that is what the manufacturer’s guarantee is for.
The two run alongside each other from the same day. Mine does not begin when theirs ends. If something I did causes a problem inside those 24 months, I come back and put it right at no charge. Section 12 of CMG’s terms sets it out in full.
Who does the work, and what I am assessed to do
Every visit is made by me. Gas Safe registered under 917962, a member of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering under 129130, WaterSafe approved for work on drinking water supplies, and City & Guilds trained, with over fifteen years in the trade.
A boiler swap touches the gas, the water and the paperwork. Competence on gas is assessed category by category under the Accredited Certification Scheme and reassessed every five years. The ones that matter here are:
CCN1
Core Domestic Gas Safety. Pipework sizing, ventilation, flueing, tightness testing and emergency procedures. Every other gas category sits on top of it.
CENWAT
Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters. The category the appliance itself falls under, for installation as well as service.
Building Regulations
Gas competence for Building Regulations, which is what lets me notify your installation myself and get the certificate to you without a third party.
Energy Efficiency
NICEIC assessed under EE-02 for domestic heating and hot water systems — the difference between a boiler that fits and a system that runs efficiently.
Also held on the gas side: TPCP1A for testing and purging pipework, and Building Regulations competence, which is what lets me notify an installation myself rather than sending you off to find a third party. All of it covers LPG as well as natural gas, and behind the domestic categories sit the commercial ones — CODNCO1, CORT1, CIGA1, CDGA1 and ICPN1 — plus the LPG changeover tickets for permanent dwellings, park homes and leisure accommodation. I take domestic and landlord work, so treat those as the depth of the assessment rather than a list of what I sell.
Away from gas, assessed by NICEIC in December 2024: Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems, installation and servicing, in compliance with G3 of Approved Document G; the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999; energy efficiency for domestic heating and hot water systems; solar thermal hot water; and air source heat pumps. Behind all of that sit a BTEC National Diploma in electrical and electronic engineering and City & Guilds electrical installation training — useful for understanding controls and wiring centres, though I am not an electrical contractor and do not present myself as one.
None of it is a badge you buy. Gas Safe registration is renewed annually and the gas work I notify can be inspected. CIPHE members are vetted before joining, have to keep their skills current, and answer to an independent complaints panel. Every number here is checkable on somebody else’s website rather than mine — the credentials page tells you where.
Further information
Fitting an unvented cylinder at the same time is covered: I am NICEIC assessed in Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems, in compliance with G3 of Approved Document G. If the rest of the system needs attention while the boiler is out, heating system maintenance explains what that involves, and boiler servicing covers the annual service that keeps the guarantee alive.
CMG’s terms set out the guarantee in full: 24 months on my workmanship, running from the day the work is done, alongside the manufacturer’s own guarantee on any part rather than after it.
